Android MSI Netbook to be Showcased at Computex 09

Along with the Averatec announcement, there are rumors that we can expect to see an Android-powered netbook showcased during Computex 2009. The report is coming courtesy of Digitimes and simply mentions that MSI are planning to demo an Android-powered netbook in an effort to “gain orders from global PC vendors.”

10" Netbook from Averatec on the Horizon?

Averatec, the relatively small PC/netbook company appears to be jumping into the Android world with a thinly veiled announcement of their upcoming] netbooks. Based out of Orange County, California, the company has been making all-in-one desktops and notebooks since 2004, often much cheaper than their competitors.

Without explicitly saying it, company chief Tae-Hyun Cho is leading many to believe that their next line will include a 10″ Android netbook.

Samsung S8000 to Run Android, Play DivX, Take Over the World

More details have emerged on the first Samsung handset to run Android. A yet-to-be announced phone called the S8000 is being reported (translated) as the South Korean handset maker’s first entry. Look through the specs and you’ll see that this is not your typical Android phone.

Android "Cupcake" Update on the Horizon

After months of discovery and hearsay, the Android build that we’ve all been waiting for is about to finally make it out. The Android Developers Blog announced today the availability of an “early look” Android 1.5 SDK. This release seems like a mostly complete version of the final release, though Google warns that some of the APIs are bound to change.

View Word and Excel Docs with Documents to go from DataViz

DataViz have launched a version of their Office file editing app Documents To Go for Android.  Promised back in December, Documents To Go can open Microsoft Word and Excel files and attachments, as well as allow editing and creating of them, up to and including Office 2007 files.

HP Considering Android for Upcoming Low-Cost Netbooks

Hewlett-Packard is considering using Google's Android operating system on its low-cost Netbooks, an executive at the company told The Wall Street Journal.In a story posted Tuesday, the Journal reported that Satjiv Chahil, a vice president of HP's PC division, confirmed that the company was studying the Google software.

Google Pulling All Tethering Apps
