Definitely a sleek, expensive looking device...
General Mobile DSTL1

We’re excited for General Mobile’s offerings for three reasons: first, it appears that they know how to design a phone (is this thing SLEEK or what!). Second, the dual-sim capabilities is an intriguing feature. And third, we want to see more Android devices already!

Though the DSTL1 looks like (and is) a high end device , its features are all over the place in terms of quality. For example, the camera packs a punch. We’re talking about 5 megapixels, autofocus, LED flash made by Sharp. There’s also supposed to be video conferencing support as well. On the other hand, this is a EDGE only device (no 3G?!) that uses a resistive touchscreen (boo). Yeah, doesn't make sense.

Luckily, General Mobile will be putting out more Android Devices in the future. Including the DSTL1, General Mobile has three Android Devices in the works. It looks like the other 2 devices will have 3G capability, one of the devices will have a QWERTY keyboard and another a slim touchscreen. No details on availability for any of these yet.

The specs as they stand today are as follows:

  • Dual-SIM cards with dual-Standby mode
  • 624MHz Marvell PXA 310 processor
  • Tri-band GSM/EDGE support (900/1800/1900MHz)
  • 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, 260k colors
  • 802.11b/g WiFi support
  • Bluetooth
  • 135g (4.75oz), 112 x 54 x 16mm (4.4 x 2.1 x .6 inches)
  • 5 megapixel autofocus camera with flash (made by Sharp)
