HP Considering Android for Upcoming Low-Cost Netbooks

Hewlett-Packard is considering using Google's Android operating system on its low-cost Netbooks, an executive at the company told The Wall Street Journal.In a story posted Tuesday, the Journal reported that Satjiv Chahil, a vice president of HP's PC division, confirmed that the company was studying the Google software.

Android Netbooks available for pre-order?

We have seen many discussions about possible Android powered netbooks and we've even seen Android get installed on an Eee PC. Now Always Innovating has announced the pre-order availability of their Touch Book netbook with possible Android capability.

Google’s Android OS on Future Asus Eee PCs

With Android-based netbooks looking like a real possibility, it comes as no surprise that Asus is working on a low-cost device powered by Google’s Android OS. Asus introduced the popular Eee sub-notebook running Linux, so Android may be a natural  fit for a new low-cost sub-notebook.

Freescale Android Netbook: $199 This Summer?

Chip maker Freescale thinks that the number of Netbooks sold in 2009 will double to 30 Million and they want a piece of the pie currently claimed by the likes of Intel, AMD and VIA. And it appears they’ve got an appetite for Android, possibly rolling out a $199 Android Netbook as early as this summer.
